Job Title: Support Worker – Part Time
Hours of Work: 7 hours/week to be worked over one day or in two half days
Salary: £5,000 per annum / £13.74 per hour
Contract: 2 years fixed term with potential to be made permanent

Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer (LFBC) is a small charity operating in the West Midlands, supporting and caring for more than 500 women and men fighting and surviving breast cancer every year. We were established in 2000 and LFBC now has an amazing team of support workers and volunteers whose core aim is to raise the importance of early detection, whilst also providing community support and raising funds for the fight against breast cancer.
LFBC is now looking for that special someone to join their successful Support Team and work with them to improve the lives of those people affected by breast cancer.
The role involves providing practical and emotional support, information and non-clinical guidance to women and men across the West Midlands who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Specifically, you will be:
- Providing one to one support either face to face or by phone
- Giving online support using Facebook and Zoom
- Running:
- Coffee Mornings
- Craft Events
- Social evenings
- the LFBC Choir
- Supporting LFBC events
- General admin required for the events organised etc
- Attending staff meetings
- Attending meetings at the LFBC office in Bromsgrove
- Involved in work planning meetings
- Training where necessary
The ideal candidate:
- Will have personal experience of breast cancer and be able to work with other people facing serious challenges associate with a breast cancer diagnosis
- Will be a team player who is willing to support people and is keen to make a difference to the lives of people with breast cancer
- Will be a car driver who can travel to events that they are involved in running
- Can remain calm and professional and respond to questions and queries appropriately.
- Has experience of working with people, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a non-judgemental approach and is compassionate, positive and adaptable.
There are no specific essential education or employment experiences levels necessary for this role and of much more importance is the candidate’s ability to speak to people and provide genuine emotional support o people in times of need.
