How Our Choir Helps Those with Breast Cancer

Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer is a charity proud to support women in the local and surrounding areas area in their fight against breast cancer, with funds being donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Unlike other charities, LBFC is proud to host their very own choir to help raise money for the charity and allow women affected by breast cancer to get together and simply have fun!

The thirty member-strong choir named Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer Well Woman Choir. based in Birmingham was thought to be the very first of its kind, after being founded by Veronica Kumeta; the CEO of LFBC and Joan Blaney, CBE.

If you are a cancer survivor or are currently fighting breast cancer, you’ll be fully aware that living with the disease can be an emotionally challenging and lonely experience, however, the choir was set up with the aim of giving these inspiring women something to focus on and help others in the same position. What’s great is that anyone can join from those who have either had a diagnosis, treatment, scare or supported a friend with breast cancer. Joining our choir is a great social occasion, gives you the chance to perform regularly and most importantly, share stories with one another; some of which you can read here.

In January, our choir got the chance to perform at the London Palladium during an audition for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, before making our way to the Symphony Hall, Birmingham this August to take part in the ‘Got 2 Sing’ concert.

Whether you simply sing in the shower or have sung professionally, the LFBC choir needs you! Rehearsals take place every other Thursday from 6.30pm- 8pm with the guidance of a professional coach at the MAC in Cannon Hill Park. If you’re interested in joining us, please get in contact on 0121 389 8926 or email info@lfbc-choir.org.uk for general enquiries.

Alternatively, if you wish to donate to Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, head to our Just Giving page to contribute towards our £1 million target for the QE hospital, which is set to be put towards an on-site salon, beauty treatments and a diagnostic suite for breast cancer patients.
